When little becomes big!

A few months ago, I was sitting on the banks of the Pool of Siloam, beneath the ruins of David’s temple in Jerusalem. I spent some time there praying and studying the passage from Isaiah 8:5-7, which tells us about this pool. A fascinating story that teaches us a great deal about contempt and gives us a principle of life that is such a source of hope.

More precisely, we see here the representation of God’s justice in situations where the little one is despised. This passage is the story of the disregard of something that did not strike the eye and flowed gently to the benefit of a king and his much-envied wealth. The rest of the story shows us that God stretched out his hand and demonstrated his power by causing the pool of Siloam to overflow and cover the king’s land and wealth.

Are you despised? I’d like to encourage you to hang in there, because the Eternal One will make you greater, to the point of covering scorn and all its perpetrators. From our perspective, we often seek to see the other lose the fruit for which they have scorned or crushed us. But God doesn’t work that way, and He wants much more for those who know how to remain honest. It’s not enough for him to be satisfied with the small part he’s lost for you. He won’t take away from those who have what they have earned, but he will give to the point of making the success of those who have despised you a tiny thing compared to what you are experiencing.

The only real way to achieve this justice is to focus on your mission and let go of control over what you think you’ve lost. It’s also the only effective way to grasp what lies ahead. Have the assurance that justice is done and hold on by focusing on your path and God will do the rest.
